Just bought a new device: Power meter. Goal: measure the power consumption of idle appliances. I've always wondered if it's OK to keep things plugged (OK to keep phone charger plugged?) I'll be gathering results in docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rIZfNHQnQlAhmKo8MBHNA6JcxfejwgdR1IMn8ZLS-5I/edit

Answer to the above question: Yes it's OK. My pixel charger and macbook charger are at 0W when the device is not connected.

Big surprise for me: my BrevilleUSA espresso machine is using 2.3W when idle. That's 20kWh per year, which means 6kg of CO2e per year in California. I really don't understand, the thing does not heat or have any display when it's off. I guess I'll unplugged.
