    1. I just gave a try to GitHub Codespaces. It's pretty nice: From a GitHub repo, I click Code > Open with Codespaces. I then have a free, persistent online dev environment where I can edit and test my code, and then push back to the repo. Seamlessly and well integrated.

    I also like Google Cloud Shell, that I've used for the same purpose for many years. Codespace add this extra GitHub integration that I like when I want to edit multiple files in my repo. I'd still use Cloud Shell for GCP dev, because of the built-in auth: cloud.google.com/shell
