      jplts matt_mcclure Chrome OS, which is a better analogy here, downloads and updates itself in the background. The new version is picked up at the next startup without wait time. Most households turn off their TV every day and keep it on long enough for background updates to happen. Problem solved

    jplts matt_mcclure When was the last time you saw such prompt on your Google Nest Hub? Never, because I suppose it uses the same strategy. Smart TVs are just badly designed and engineered if they prompt for updates. My Bravia, which runs some Google OS, has the same issue. Everyone is to blame.
